GP2X

The GP2X is a handheld device with a variety of interesting hardware. It runs a customized version of Linux, which can be ignored by an end user.
There are three forms of memory. The 64MB RAM, the 64 MB NAND flash memory which generally stores the boot loader, operating system, and common libraries; and a removable SD card available in sizes from 16MB to 4GB for programs and media. When you turn the machine on, the white screen shows the hardware boot, the black background GP2X logo screen shows that the system running a boot loader, then the green background GP2X logo screen shows it booting Linux. Finally, it runs the program /usr/gp2x/gp2xmenu which allows the user to interact with their GP2X. Using the GUI, the user then selects a file to view (movies, pictures, text, etc.) or a program to launch (games, utilities, etc.) through the menus.
